Mary was a remarkable young girl who greeted everyone she encountered with a smile. She brought such a light into this world and everyone who knew her felt it. She had a larger than life personality and was kind to all. Mary was a star athlete and loved to play lacrosse, soccer, basketball, softball and loved to swim. Mary also was an excellent student. She loved going to school everyday. She had such an incredible yearning to learn and it showed. She was a remarkable student and belonged to Matholympiads and academically advanced while attending St. Agnes.
At the age of 11, Mary's world was turned upside down when she received a shocking cancer diagnosis. Although scared, she never let her disease change who she was. She continued to smile, to learn, to compete, to have fun, and most importantly, she continued to love. When Mary was receiving her treatments at Memorial Sloan Kettering, she never viewed herself as sick. She would think about the other children she saw there and want to help them. She would often walk the halls of MSK and say "wow there are so many sick kids here, it is so sad." She never viewed herself as sick. It was this strength and bravery and strong love of life that inspired many. She will always be remembered as a fun loving, kind hearted girl and will be missed forever.
